Faith: The Building Blocks of Conjure

Matthew 17:20
New International Version (NIV)

20 He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Most folks don’t know what Jesus really meant when he gave us this Scripture or they don’t completely understand what God was telling us. Before you start anything in life you got to have faith in yourself and faith in the best outcome. This is the key to a successful life and the secret of Conjure work.

Before you start any work you must see it as a complete and total success. Faith starts with you so before you dig deep into the work you have to work on yourself and see yourself as a success. This is the biggest obstacle that keeps you from being successful in your spiritual endeavors. Trust me I know this from my own experience.

As you build faith and put forth the effort then you will begin to claim your power. Once you claim power you will make those mountains move in your life. This is the secret that old Conjure workers have: FAITH! Just as atoms are the building blocks of matter so is FAITH the building blocks of Conjure.

Once you have faith in yourself and faith in God Almighty you will change the world. We tend to underestimate ourselves and our truest potentials because of a lack of faith in ourselves. The worst thing you can ever do to block your blessings is to tell yourself you aren’t worth the best. You are worth every desire you can achieve and much more! Stop telling yourselves that you don’t deserve enough. That is detrimental to the blessings God has in store for you. Instead claim all your blessings because that’s what God wants for you.

Sure the roots, herbs, Bible, and candles are important in Conjure work. They have their place because there is a special power and purpose that God implanted in those items but without faith then the power in those things are weak and void. Faith is what gives soul and purpose to Conjure work. Work with faith, build it, and breathe it every day just like a mustard seed. The size of the seed doesn’t matter because that seed of faith will achieve total success as it sprouts.

So next time you are feeling a little down and in a rut say Matthew 17 V 20 and ask God to remind you of the power of Faith and what it can do. I hope this helps someone out there.
May God Fill You with the Spirit of Faith. Dr Love Bug

Isaiah 41

Isaiah is a very powerful book in the Bible. The 41st chapter is one of the first old testament prayers I learned to work with for uncrossing work. Say it over a white vigil held to your mouth whenever you feel crossed up. Light it and petition God to fight your battles for you. Repeat for a total of 7 days.

I love this chapter because it works like a double edged sword.

Isaiah 41

1Keep silence before me, O islands; and let the people renew their strength: let them come near; then let them speak: let us come near together to judgment.
2Who raised up the righteous man from the east, called him to his foot, gave the nations before him, and made him rule over kings? he gave them as the dust to his sword, and as driven stubble to his bow.
3He pursued them, and passed safely; even by the way that he had not gone with his feet.
4Who hath wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and with the last; I am he.
5The isles saw it, and feared; the ends of the earth were afraid, drew near, and came.
6They helped every one his neighbour; and every one said to his brother, Be of good courage.
7So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, and he that smootheth with the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It is ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, that it should not be moved.
8But thou, Israel, art my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
9Thou whom I have taken from the ends of the earth, and called thee from the chief men thereof, and said unto thee, Thou art my servant; I have chosen thee, and not cast thee away.
10Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
11Behold, all they that were incensed against thee shall be ashamed and confounded: they shall be as nothing; and they that strive with thee shall perish.
12Thou shalt seek them, and shalt not find them, even them that contended with thee: they that war against thee shall be as nothing, and as a thing of nought.
13For I the LORD thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
14Fear not, thou worm Jacob, and ye men of Israel; I will help thee, saith the LORD, and thy redeemer, the Holy One of Israel.
15Behold, I will make thee a new sharp threshing instrument having teeth: thou shalt thresh the mountains, and beat them small, and shalt make the hills as chaff.
16Thou shalt fan them, and the wind shall carry them away, and the whirlwind shall scatter them: and thou shalt rejoice in the LORD, and shalt glory in the Holy One of Israel.
17When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the LORD will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them.
18I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
19I will plant in the wilderness the cedar, the shittah tree, and the myrtle, and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the fir tree, and the pine, and the box tree together:
20That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the LORD hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
21Produce your cause, saith the LORD; bring forth your strong reasons, saith the King of Jacob.
22Let them bring them forth, and shew us what shall happen: let them shew the former things, what they be, that we may consider them, and know the latter end of them; or declare us things for to come.
23Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
24Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.
25I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.
26Who hath declared from the beginning, that we may know? and beforetime, that we may say, He is righteous? yea, there is none that sheweth, yea, there is none that declareth, yea, there is none that heareth your words.
27The first shall say to Zion, Behold, behold them: and I will give to Jerusalem one that bringeth good tidings.
28For I beheld, and there was no man; even among them, and there was no counsellor, that, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
29Behold, they are all vanity; their works are nothing: their molten images are wind and confusion.

Prayer to Stop Slander/Shut Up

There are times when folks just want stay out of our space. They don't know how to mind their own business and keep their mouth's shut! If you find yourself in a spot like that then get a red candle, write the targets name in the wax. Pray the prayer below every hour on the hour until the candle burns out.

Prayer to Stop Slander/Shut Up

We need Thee, O Lord, to curb vicious tongues from making cruel judgments, vile criticisms, and untruthful statements. Dear Almighty God, silence our enemies. Keep them from speaking barbed words that cut into our hearts and souls. Make their unkind words fall upon deaf ears and shield us from their wickedness and evil. O Lord, make us sweet inside that we may be gentle with others, gentle in what we say, and gentle in what we do. In Thine own strong name we do pray. Amen

Conjure Balls

Conjure balls are these funny little balls that can be made with wax, clay {like the one in the picture} or mud from a crawdad mound. Sometimes the little balls are not so funny after all; like the one you see in the photo's. Conjure balls can be made to draw prosperity, to draw love, for domination work and like the one in the picture the can be used to knock the hell out of someone.

There are times when folks go to far and need to sit the hell down. The ball in the photo is the type of ball I was taught to do just that. I want tell you how to make the ball in the picture because it is dangerous work and you could cross yourself up; but I want to explain the concept as it was explained to me many years ago.

The conjure ball really represents the head of the target. The crown of our head is very important. The work above was done for a client who had to be protected. The targets personal items are placed in the conjure ball along with a verse from the Bible, it is all burned to ash. All of this is mixed with the clay to make the targets head. Of course while the ball is being made you are very focused on the target and you are praying the whole time.

If you notice in the photo there are {4} square head pins in the ball nailing the person down. Right there in the center of the cross set up is a wonderful black candle, bringing justice and protetion. Remember a photo speaks a thousand words and when a seed is planted a strong tree will grow!

To Stop an Enemy

If you feel someone is burning candles against you; then you need to get a red stick candle and {3} nails. Using a hammer, nail the {3} nails into the candle; on each nail say” I wish my enemy would go away and leave me alone! Make them leave me alone in the name of the Trinity”.

Set the stick candle on a white plate. Mix a pinch of gun powered with some sugar and sprinkle it around the candle. Some ole folks say you can place burnt salt around the candle. They say the burnt salt will drive them away and take away their luck.

Burn your candle for {10} minutes; when the hand of the clock is going downward on Mondays, while praying your petition. Blow the candle out when you are done. You are blowing your enemy away from you. Once the candle is finished take it through as many crossroads as you can and leave at the one farthest from your home.

Laying Trick's

Laying tricks is a big part of Hoodoo. You can lay a trick anywhere the person will walk or place the powder or oil on anything they will touch. You can even add it to the sprinkle water that you use to iron their clothes with. The heat from the iron will heat it up and as you pass the iron over the clothes you can pray to yourself what you want the outcome to be. When I was young in my early twenties I did ironing for other folks. I kept a magnet in my spray bottle to keep them coming back. When I boiled my water for the starch the main pot had a magnet, a few drops of syrup and a few bay leaves thrown in it. This kept my ironing folks coming back.

You can place the oil on the bottom of their shoe's or place oil on their sox or under clothes. The trick is to name the person the trick is meant for and then make your prayer and petition. You don’t need a bunch of Hocus Pocus to be a successful worker. What folks need to do is get out and talk to ole folks. Folks are under the misconception that you will meet a worker and they will just start spouting out all this work. That is false and you are living a pipe dream! It ain’t gonna happen. They have to get to know you. Meeting old workers out in the real world is not the same as meeting one on the internet, I guarantee that. It’s taken me about {7} years to get comfortable with the internet and how it works. I’m young compared to workers like, Mr. Robert, Mother Winnie, Mother Tolbert, and Ms. Doris to name a few. They don’t have computers nor do they know anything about the internet. Yes they are all still alive, I speak to them often.

The one thing you need to remember is to keep it simple. Get out and meet the people! You can’t understand what real Conjure is unless you get out and meet the ole folks. You’re not going to learn it through the internet. When you do meet them DON'T start asking about Hoodoo! If you do then you want get a word out of them.

Reversal Candle Conjure

Reversal Candle Conjure(c)starr

When I was first taught how to do reversal conjure I was told to never call anyone’s name. For 30 years I have followed this rule. You don’t have to call a name because spirit knows who has done the dirt. I have been accused a few times of crossing folks up; this is not true. If they got hit then it was because they worked on me to start with and spirit just gave them back what they had sent plus some. One of the reasons I don’t use names in my reversal work is because it might not be who YOU think it is, and then an innocent by stander gets hurt for no reason. So

for this type of conjure I always say or write on my petition “all my enemies known and unknown”! This way I leave it up to spirit who gets hit. I am a heavy handed worker so if you throw at me, you WILL get all you threw plus all the power of my spirits back at you.

Now for this work you need a large white candle. I was taught to use white because the color is pure. Write the phrase “all my enemies known and unknown” on your candle. Dress your candle withrun devil run or BlackHawk oil. Take your candle and wipe yourself going downward from head to toe. I don’t cleanse this type of candle or the bowl I am using; at this point I really don’t care what gets sent to my enemy. I add some BlackHawk dirt and a little beer to the bowl then before I place my candle into the bowl I roll it away from me three times; while I am stating my petition. Then I place the candle into the bowl with the dirt.

Unlike the Money work this work is done right on the hour. So you would start the work at 6 pm and let the candle burn until fifteen after six then snuff the candle out, at midnight you would relight the candle, then again at 6 am. Now the 6 am stumped me but because you are working after the hour it works. That is how it was explained to me. This is a very powerful reversal work and if someone has thrown on you just keep your ear to the ground because you will hear about how bad off things have been for them!

Mama's Hoodoo, Rootwork, Conjure

My family comes from South Carolina; I never heard the word Hoodoo until I got on the internet. The only reason I am using it now is because it gets your website into the search engines. I'm a traditional Conjure worker plain and simple. Traditional conjure workers don't usually work with the saints. I didn't know anything about the Catholic church until we moved out of South Carolina. I became a Catholic after I left home much to my mama's dismay. I was raised a Chirstian. I know Catholic's are Christians too but my family didn't look at them as such because of the saints and the whole ritual in mass. When I became a Catholic my mama went so far as to tell me I was going to burn in hell.
I'm telling you this so you get the idea. Traditional Old Style Conjureworkers don't work with the saints. That is NOLA style Hoodoo which is different. I work with the saints but I work with them the same way I do the Holy Trinity. I was raised with the laying on of hands to heal. I pray the same way I was taught as a child in Bible school. I work with my Bible just like I was taught. There is a difference in what folks on the internet call Hoodoo and the REAL Traditional Style Conjure. It doesn't matter how you color it most internet workers are not Traditional workers. I don't mean to insult anyone I am just stating the facts the way they are.
My mama worked with oil lamps, I never saw her light a candle. For a long time I only burnt white or black stick candles, what most call taper candles. My mama used either olive oil, sweet oil or lard to rub on us as children. She used sulfar, ash and other things to dress our heads and feet with. I didn't grow up with all the Hoodoo products that are out there today. I make them and I use my own products but that is not what I was raised on. Folks from the south know the difference between a Traditional worker and one who has learned else where. I hear it all the time. So those who claim to be traditional workers and aren't; well they are not fooling folks from the South. Like me these folks grew up with conjure and know the difference.
You have to understand it is a mind set. It's in the blood, it's in the words we use when we are speaking about the work. We don't preform spells and rituals, we do a job. We work with the Bible and the Trinity. We know to cover our work with the blood of Jesus. We know that an ancestor altar doesn't have a bunch of glasses on it. It has photo's of our loved ones who have passed and a Bible. If you are going to claim it then you really need to learn to "walk the walk and talk the talk". Like I said I don't mean to insult anyone but I personally am sick of all these so called Hoodoo's. Every bodies teacher is dead, or they can't disclose the information. Give me a break please.
You are more than welcome to comment on this blog. Peace Starr

Working by The Clock

Working by The Clock(c)starr
I was not taught to work by the moon phases, in my family that was considered witchcraft which was a sin and went against God. I was raised in the Pentecostal church, so moon phases didn’t have a place in my life other than when to cut my hair, when to plant or when to remove a wart and such. I don’t mean any disrespect to anyone or how they believe; but since this is my website and my writings I feel like I have the right to speak plain. At a young age I was lucky to meet an old Conjure worker, she explained to me about working by the clock. She told me she didn’t have time to wait for the moon to settle. I have to agree with her.

When I have a job to do I don’t wait on the moon; the work comes out just as good working by the clock. This information is being lost like a lot of the other old ways because folks don’t know about it. When you work by the clock you work to remove something when the hand on the clock is going downward. So if I wanted to do a reversal work I would start that work at around five minutes after midnight. You can start the work at any time after the hour but I like midnight because that is a very powerful time.

Now if I am going to take a cleansing bath I will start the bath at around twenty after the hour, this gives me ten minutes in the tub before the hand starts moving upward. By the time the hands are moving upward towards the next hour I am dried off and dressing myself with spiritual oil. I dress from toes to heal and upward. This is done to draw things to me. Get the idea? Try this and you will see once you get the hang of it you will never wait for a moon phase again to do your Conjure work.

I do try to work with the days of the week and the planets; but if I have a job that has to be done and it is not on the right day I will still do the work. I was taught not to let anything stop me from doing my work and I have always lived by that with great success. Sometimes a work might take a while but I just keep hitting it until it is done. Here is a little money vigil trick that you should try it works really well.

Get a seven day green vigil. At 11:35 am start dressing your vigil and get it ready to light. Say your prayers and do whatever you do to get your vigils ready. Now at 11:45 tap the candle three times and on each tap say “the Lord is my Shepard and I shall not want”. Then light your vigil.
At noon say your petition over your vigil. Then every day at noon until the candle burns out go to your space and say your prayers and your petition. Try this I think you will see a difference in your money work. Check out the link below Candle Burning On The Hour.

Hoodoo Rootwork Love Conjure

Since the beginning of time women have been finding ways to entice the opposite sex. I'm going share with you a couple of tricks that I have not seen on the internet and thats because there are not many Traditional conjure workers on the net. All you ever see or hear about is spiritual oils and a few waters. I'm going to share {2} remidies with you that will help in dealing with your man. Smell has always played a factor in how men react to women.  There are certian smells that draw them.

In 1935 Revlon came out with a classic scent of spice and floral. This classic is Jean Nate after bath splash; this bath splash is fresh and invigorating. I used this splash for many years, then it became hard to find. Revlon has brought it back and it is as good as ever.  Old school workers know that this bath splash can be used to draw your man closer. It’s something about the smell. If your man seems to be distant from you, get some Jean Nate. After you bath just splash some on. Watch what a change comes over him. I add some to a spray bottle with a little water and spray my bed with it. Get some and try it you can find it at walgreens.

This one might be a little harder to find but you can find it sometimes during the christmas holidays. This oldie but goodie is called {Sand & Sable} it is put out by Coty. My mama wore this scent, I call it her scent. If you have a man who is tight fisted wear some Sand & Sable when you as him for some cash. I had forgotten all about this one until Ms. Doris remined me. She gave me some and when I sprayed it I smelled my mama. I don't know why or how but this really works.  Enjoy Momma Starr

Coco Robicheaux

I had the honor of meeting CoCo November the 12th 2011 when he came to our Folk Magic Festival in NOLA and played for us. As you can see from the picture we hit it off. He had me laughing so hard I had to clamp my mouth shut to take the photo. Sometimes we meet someone and it seems like we have known them forever. They just touch our hearts, CoCo stole my heart that day. It was as if we were old friends. I was a little shocked when I noticed that he was wearing my ring, well actually it was his ring but I wear the exact same ring. A silver ring with a Native American Chief. When I commented on it he said "I'm not surprised, I have already been by your table and I spoke with your daughter about your BlackHawk book".

He talked to me about his music, his daughter and son-in-law. He gave me some good advice about my books. He told me to continue to publish my own books and not to ever give anyone control over them. I agreed with him, like him I'm old school "I kind of go down my own road". He was so gifted you could feel the spirit around him as he talked to you. He touched all of our hearts that day and we all feel a lose. He treated us like family and promised to come play for us again next year, but I guess the spirits needed a great Conjure man.

As you can see he was a "Hot Mess" and kept us laughing, he just brought happiness to the festival. As long as this old conjure woman lives I will honor his memory and remember what a great man he was. Check out those pants; only CoCo could look sharp in them. Left to right, Wulfie, Susan, Orion, CoCo, Momma Starr and Auntie Sindy; the five of us are Conjure Crossroads.

This is how we at Conjure Crossroads will always remember him! CoCo and happiness go together.

Book Review: Old Style Conjure Candle Burning by Starr = TOTAL SCAM!

I have the permission from the Author to post this here; enjoy.

Book Review: Old Style Conjure Candle Burning by Starr = TOTAL SCAM!

The book, Old Style Conjure Candle Burning by Starr is a total scam!

If you purchase this book you are almost stealing a life-time of tricks from an authentic, traditional conjure woman. If you purchase this book you will be ripping Momma Starr off!

This is not a tired rehash of material that is easily found online. This is the real deal, folks! You purchase this book and you will read the book and you will know you are dealing with real power! You will not find the information in this book anywhere else.

Momma Starr writes as she talks and teaches. It's very down-to-earth and actually comforting. For the older workers out there I'm sure reading this book will remind you of your kin, of how momma or grandma use to do things. For the new workers, prepare to have your mind blown because I can assure you that reading Starr's books and listening to her Old Style Conjure blogtalk radio show will be the closest thing to real, authentic hoodoo/rootwork/conjure that you will ever get save for getting out in the community and talking to folks.

Now, I will be honest. After reading the book I sent an email to Momma Starr telling her I thought she was giving away far too much information. I actually got that sinking feeling in your stomach you get when you feel guilty. I felt guilty for simply reading the book! It's just filled with way too many old-school worker secrets. I'm sure many of the old-school workers who may read Starr's book will think she's crazy for giving away this much information. That's why I'm going to call anyone who purchases Momma Starr's book a thief.

If you purchase this book you will learn more about real, traditional hoodoo/rootwork/conjure than anything you may find online. That's a fact!

As far as the Candle Burning book goes, it is a 180 page, spiral-bound book that contains colored pictures. The material inside covers old-school worker candle burning tricks that many people will never even dream possible. This is not the sort of thing new workers are just going to accidentally discover for themselves. These are things they must be taught. Not only did I learn a great deal from reading this book but Momma Starr has also unknowingly answered several of my questions concerning things I was taught by old-school workers. I won't go into detail here but I was taught not to burn pastel-colored candles. Momma Starr never mentions the word pastel in the book but does explain why they aren't worked with.

So don't you purchase this book! This book is dangerous! It has far too many old-school conjure worker secrets. Anyone who purchases this book and puts the information to use will be a force to reckon with; therefore stay away from it. Stay away from Momma Starr's books, her website, and her Old Style Conjure show at blogtalk radio. Don't you allow yourself to be exposed to the real deal. We can't have all these people running around having this knowledge!

So, if you have it in your head that you must purchase Momma Starr's book, then all I can say is, For shame! You are practically robbing cherished secrets from an old-school worker!

You can rob from Momma Starr, i.e. purchase the book, at the following link.

I strongly advise that people not listen to Momma Starr & Dr. Lovebug at their blogtalk radio show at the below link. The information given is too powerful and too dangerous.

Hoodoo Rootwork Conjure Ancestor Altar Verses A Boveda

                                                                 My Ancestor Altar

Some folks who claim to be traditional conjure workers seem to be confused about the Ancestor altar. A Traditional conjure workers ancestor altar holds, photo's of their ancestors, a Bible, {1} glass for the offering drink, personal items that belong to the Ancestors or things that they liked in life. This altar is set up to honor and respect the ancestors. This is the place where you leave offerings for your Ancestors. These are your kinfolks, they can be blood kin or heart kin. If you loved them and they felt like your family then you can honor them on your altar.

A lot of folks are under the misconception that you can't place anyone on your altar that is not blood kin; this is absolutley not true. If they were like your family in life and you want to honor them then please do so. I find it very funny that folks who claim to be traditional conjure workers don't know how to set up a Traditional Ancestor altar. Something is fishy somewhere; but someone who has worked with a Traditional Conjure worker or knows one will know the difference. There is to much mismatching going on and calling it Hoodoo, Rootwork or Conjure. Don't be fooled learn the difference go out and find an old worker you will be suprised!

Now that we know what a REAL Rootworkers ancestor altar consist of lets take a look at what a lot of folks are calling a Traditional Ancestor altar. Below is a picture I found on line of someones altar. As you can see it is a Boveda and looks absolutly nothing like my altar. That is because this is a altar used for a Spiritual Mass.

The above photo IS NOT a Rootworkers ancestor altar. I don't care who says it is it is NOT! This is a spiritualist altar. This is the type of altar that is worked with in Santeria. On the Spirit altar or Boveda as some call it only white is placed on this altar. They are almost always set up the same although the glasses maybe placed in different places on the altar. Below is another photo I found on-line of a Boveda.

As you can see they both have {7} glasses and one large glass with a cross in it in the center. This is NOT a Conjure Ancestor Altar! The placement of the glasses differ from person to person it depends on what your spirit leads you to do. Some folks beleive that the Boveda not only holds your Ancestors but also your spiritual guides, this is way off course of a Traditional Conjure workers Ancestor altar. Cascarilla, Flordia Water, and rum are some offerings given on the Boveda, this has absolutly NOTHING to do with Conjure work or its workers if they are Traditional workers. Traditional Conjure workers don't use Cascarilla they use chalk, they don't use Flordia water they use Holy water, river waters, swamp water, Thunder water or just plain ole water. I'm sorry if this up sets some folks but it is the truth.

Hoodoo Conjure Rootwork Honey Jars (c) Starr

HOODOO, CONJURE, ROOTWORK, JAR CONJURE
Sweeten Em Up Honey Jars

I didn't really hear about Honey Jars until I got on the Internet. This was something new to me like using a Loadstone instead of using a magnet the way I was taught as a young worker. I was taught to use syrup and different sugars to sweeten someone. Honey has always been a bit pricey. You can get 5 or 6X's more syrup for the money than you can Honey. I was also taught if you wanted to slow someone down you did it with molasses. You don't hardly ever hear anything about this on the Internet.

I personally prefer syrup but all folks know about is honey jars. Syrup is sweeter than honey and I have found that it works better for me. Don't take my word for it make a Conjure jar and instead of honey use syrup. I think you will be pleased with the results. Here's a little recipe for you to sweeten, heal, and bring peace to your home.

Get a medicine bottle, add everyones name to the bottle that lives in the house. Add Hosea 6 V 1-2 to the bottle. Add a pinch of salt and ask for Gods blessing upon your home. Then add some syrup to the bottle. Close the lid and shake the bottle up while praying for God to answer your prayer. Burn a tea light on your bottle daily and work the bottle.
